LanScan Pro App Reviews

Useful Network Discovery Tool

I was very happy to see the version 3 update this morning. The ability to scan multiple subnets is very useful. I noticed that MAC addresses were returned for local subnet only, but I think that probably has more to do with the filter rules on the layer 3 switch than it does with this app. I have a couple of similar apps that I use for scanning for network devices. I like this one for a quick scan due to it’s performance and simplicity. The export to text feature is useful for dumping to spreadsheet. I glad to see this app is still in active development. Well worth the $6 *** Rating based on the spartan features of this app. A certain angry open source app has a better feature set, but does not scan as quickly as this one. If those other features (ping response time, open port checks, etc) were included here I would rate ***** I would still purchase this again, and recommend it.

Not Worth Time or Money

This application does not offer much value. I usually dont worry about 5.99 for an application but when the application is as immature as this one then I cant help feeling like I have been fleeced. The main problems I have: 1. Very little in the way of customizing preferences 2. Host name resolution is inconsistent and usually doesnt show results (compare it to Angry IP Scanner, which is free) 3. No port scanning (granted, it doesnt claim to do that so it doesnt weigh too heavily on my opinion) I compared the app to Angry IP Scanner, which is free. If you can get over the fact that Angry IP Scanner uses Java (written in Eclipse) then go that route. Dont give money to developers that arent spending time on developing features. I mean seriously, this is a version 3 product?

Waste of money

This app is practically useless. I just bought this app and scanned a network of over 200 ips. This app found all of the IPs but only detected the names of maybe 10-15 of those devices. A complete waste of money. Buy IP Scanner Pro instead. It’s more expensive but you get what you pay for. I just got it and scanned the same network. Found every single device and labeled them correctly. Much more powerful.

Not really worth the price

It works yes, extremely basic. The pro version looks just like the free versoin. No improvments like they said and the speeds are exactly the same. Again, it works and discovers whats on you network but thats it. Nothing else useful on this app. Definelty wasn’t worth the money I paid for. Should of just stuck with the free version. I could careless to rename the devices on the scanner. That is what my router is for if I need it. Not saying its a bad app but boring and very dry. Nothing to it…. better off with free version. wish i did a little more research before buying. Just needed something quickly and I picked this one because I was at a job site needing something real fast and this one has no limit to how many devices. other than that… thats it. free one is fine unless you need to pick up over 20 devices on the network.

Not working on Yosemite after last update.

After the latest update, the application opens and immediately closes. Before this issue, it worked great so Please Fix It, I loved the app and used it every day!

Fast as hell

Extermely fast read of local LAN. Worth the $6 to name my devices and get past other limits. More conevenient than my router adming panel to see connected devices.

Nice!

Relatively Cheap and Relatively fast at the same time. Simple basic and does its job. Nice APP!
